Founded in 1941 by Swedish immigrant Joseph B. Anderson and his son Bill, J.B. Anderson & Son, Inc. began as a small machine shop in the basement of J.B.'s home that quickly became integral to America's WWII efforts. The company's pivotal contributions included designing a microwave cavity tube for aircraft radar that enabled high-altitude daylight bombing raids over Europe. Following the war, the company distinguished itself by manufacturing precision components for the Cesium Atomic Clock, including parts for the USA time standard at the National Bureau of Standards and early GPS satellites.

Now in its fourth generation of family ownership, J.B. Anderson & Son, Inc. has evolved into a full-service precision machine shop operating from a modern 10,000 sq. ft. facility. The strategic acquisition of Kernco's assets established the company as a global player in the vacuum industry with their MODION® ion pump product line, known worldwide for ruggedness and reliability. While maintaining their reputation for precision work, the company has expanded into full production runs and continuously reinvests in developing innovative products for scientific and research communities, carrying forward a legacy of engineering excellence that spans over 80 years.
